About Castle Creavie

Castle Creavie takes its name from the Iron Age Castle Fort once situated in the centre of the farm.

Elaine and Charlie Wannop took over Castle Creavie in 1992. They have cherished every animal and nurtured every tree and in doing so have created this beautiful haven in the heart of Galloway.

After many years travelling the world and then farming their own farm in Cumbria, Dan has returned home with his wife Ciara and son Odin to take over the family farm. Dan and Ciara met while travelling in Thailand where he convinced her to leave her native home in Ireland and become a farmers wife. Our little Viking joined our family in 2020 and brought us nothing but joy during a world pandemic. Odin is a born farmer and will take you on his own personal tour of the farm showing you all his favourite spots (the tractor, the quad bike and the gee gees (horses).

Castle Creavie takes its name from the Iron Age Castle Fort once situated in the centre of the farm. We run a large flock of sheep alongside a herd of British Shorthorns and Luing cattle on this 300 acre farm. We also have pigs chickens, horses and several working dogs. The working life goes on around the farm, where guests are always welcome to observe the day to day life on this family friendly farm which is clean, safe and has clearly marked paths for our visitors to enjoy. We welcome well behaved dogs in the Steading and usually have a field available especially for dog walking. To encourage the natural wildlife on the farm we have planted hedgerows trees and woodlands, created ponds, protect water margins and manage the grassland as a haven for birds and wild flowers. We have seen over 70 different types of birds throughout the year, and enjoy seeing hares, stoats, deer and foxes. In 2021 we have planted 1000 native trees including Oak, Rowan, Scots PIne, Guelder Rose, Hazel, Alder, Sloe, and many more. It will make a wonderful habitat for wildlife and birds. So come and share your next adventure with us at Castle Creavie
